Growler straight from the brewery poured into a generic goblet glass. Pours a dark, murky amber with a large head. But it really does not look well, just a bad murkiness to the color, kind of looks like dirt poured in there. Aroma, can tell right away this is amateur work. Old hops, smell like crap, with too much sweet malt behind it. Taste is similar with a very strong, resiny bitterness which does not work well in a beer with a horrible hop flavor and too much residual sweetness. Tasted like a first time homebrew. I have been a big fan of 23rd but this one was really sub par.

Growler filled at the brewpub, consumed 4 hours later that evening. Pour is golden yellow, bit hazy and cloudy. Nice, full formed, white head. Nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is lemon citrus and the resin hops. Taste is the resin rye graininess with bit floral orange lemon citrus hops. Decent balance and bitterness throughout. Palate is medium, oily, though drinkable. Bit of alcohol warmth in the drying finish.
