The pleasant, dark Doppelbock of monasterial origin, especially suited for festivities during the chilly season.
Typical for the Maximator is the full-bodied, pithy and pronounced body, coated with a fine and velvety refraction.
Due to the use of dark malt produced in the barn malt house, the light sweetness is surrounded by toasty cocoa notes.
The finish is smooth, with a lingering note of dark chocolate.

bottle pours dark mahogany with a medium off white head. Aroma is big and sweet with munich malt and brown sugar dominating. Flavor is very rich, some strawberry, and apricot and lots of bready malts. Sweet lingering finish with light spicing. Amazing flavors considering it’s brewed under the Reinheitsgebot. A top notch doppelbock.

Quite excited when I found this in the large map at Delirium Cafe, Brussels. Finally!. BB 04/09. 50cl bottle. Handsome ruby brown color with a small lasting creamy white head and lacings. Nose is deep malty. Dark dried fruits, toffee/caramel. Sweet and vinous. Some dry roasted notes and a bit of dust. Full bodied and a pleasant warmth. Wauw - very nice!

Pours cherry amber with tan head. The aroma is as cherry as the color with ripe cherries, prunes, black grapes and fresh apricots mixing with caramel and a touch of molasses. The initial taste is very promising with rich fruity flavors from cherries, grapes and plums. It then picks up a sweet yummy caramel note about midway and grows some into the finish. A hint of earthiness and molasses join the caramel and dark fruitiness as the flavor lingers into the after taste. Mighty tasty stuff.

Bottled (Beerangel, BB 07/2009). Clear deep ruby brown color, small off-white head. Aroma of raisins, roasted malts, some hay and horseblanket. Lighter than some other famous doppelbocks, but interesting licorice flavor. Some molasses, rye bread, grassy hops and malts. Balanced and tasty, a bit sweet.

Bottle from Corks, Bristol. Clear, dark brown in colour with a touch of ruby red. Slight, off-white head. aroma of caramel, prunes, cherries and roasted malts. Flavour was syrupy sweet, with plenty of fruit, doughy malts, some warming alcohol and a decent bitter finish. Enjoyable.
