On tap at Barclay’s in Berkeley, CA. Pours a dull amber with gold edges and lasting tan head. Nice strength aroma of dark fruitiness, roasted malts, mild caramel and faint spices. The taste is similar to the aroma with prunes, dates and plums mixed with roasted malts and sweet caramelized malts. Nice rich malty offering of the style. The sweetness does build up a bit but not bad at all for the style.

Bottle. Dark amber or golden brown color with a one finger head and a nice malt rich aroma. Caramel malts, bread dough, floral hops, and fruit are all in the aromas, which are fairly interesting for a Oktoberfest. Mouthfeel is viscous and sticky, and flavor is just right at that border of being obnoxiously sweet. Sweetness comes through almost as a white grape juice presence... definitely fruity. Interesting and different.

Aroma of noble hop and light caramel. Indeed a deep amber color. The white head flattened rather rapidly. Medium bodied with mild, but biting, carbonation. Slightly fruity, lightly sweet malt. Could be floral hop. The finish is pretty dry, and there’s enough bitter for balance. None of which makes the point that this is fresh, fruity, clean. It’s pretty darn good.

Draft @ Keegan Ales brewery/restaurant. Aroma is faintly aged biscuit malts, burnt and toasty. Some cheap corn in there as well, light woody. Taste is so damn plain and uninteresting basic O’fest with some light candy sugar sweetness. Finishes with low bitterness, average carbonation, and a light medium body.

Mid range quality on this beer. Orange color. Malt in the flavor and aroma. Some caramel, and just a little sweet with some dryness in the finish.

Sampled from bottle. Flavor was that of citrus and tart fruit. Flavor was decent enough, and a surprise result from most of the Oktoberfest beers I’ve been having lately.

Slight candy aroma. Colored like iced tea. Comes on pretty bitter for a fest. Similar in behavior to many average malt liquors. Nice carbonation. Fairly bitter and insensitive, like many ales. Pilsner and alky metallic finish, hangs for a while. Don’t think this and Hacker belong in the same league.

Pour is a brown with almost no head at all. Aroma is deffinatly malts with some fruitness and a nice hop quality. Flavor is bready malts with some more of the earthy hop quality. Probably the most hoppy marzen i have had in awhile. Not bad for this brewer.
