Keg at Ushers. Pours clear dark brown with a thin beige head. Aromas of dark sugars, molasses, faint spice, marmalade. Taste is light sweet, some heat, demerara, more spice. Cleans up nicely on the finish. Lovely.

The beer starts very sweet and sticky. Very sticky and intense malty-sweet. Like liquid sugar with a sweetish malty body. In the background and till the end there is a slight bitter aroma, that could be a bit more intense to fight against the intense sweetness here. Not my beer.

Bottle: Hazy, reddish-amber coloured, stable off-white head,, nose of sweet dried fruits and molasses and caramell, distinctive herba hoppy background; solid sweet-bitter flavour, almost full bodied; robust and lingering dryish bitter-sweet finish, lots of hops detectable. A very fine brew...

(bottle, 33cl) Hazy, dark amber to brown colour with a beige and short foamy head. Yeasty aroma with notes of dried fruits, raisins, caramel, accompanied by a delicately nutty and vinous malty notes. Sweet and moderately bitter flavour, full bodied with a well-carbonated mouthfeel. Robust caramelly malty base with notes of dried fruits and a delicately nutty touch; balanced sweet-bitter finish with resiny and slightly herbal hops, the alcohol is warming but not disturbing. 15.VII.14

On tap at Delirium Hoppy Loft, pours an opaque murky amber with a medium white head. Nose brings out lots of dried dark fruits, toffee and brown sugar. Flavour is exactly the same, with loads of toffee, figs / dates, and a sufficient hop dosage to balance things out. Very low residual sweetness, making this is a highly drinkable and dangerous barley wine. Excellent stuff.
