Bottle at the Ultimate Imperial Stout Tasting. Thnx for the awesome day, folks! This bottle was shared by Beerlover_ben . Pours jet black, good dark head. Smell is sharp bourbon, anis notes. Taste is grainy, mildly bitter bourbon. Oaky, bit peppery as well. Some roasted grains. OK mouthfeel.

Pours black into a tulip. Mocha head with medium retention recedes leaving scant trailing sheets. Chocolate and oak aromas. Dry with sweet chocolate and caramel upfront turning thin in the hot oak and bourbon burn finish.

500mL bottle, sent from Glouglouburp (thanks a lot, Dany), pours jet black with a small tan head. Aroma is quite oxidized, with some tart vinous notes and some cocoa. Flavour is thankfully quite a bit better, with notes of cocoa, moderate bourbon notes, and a cold cup of black coffee. There's almost a hint of chilli pepper in there too. Definitely on the down slope in terms of age - I wish I had drank this fresher. A big step down from the regular Beer Geek Breakfast - not as smooth, nor as full-bodied. Certainly tastes better than it smells, but it's not the most elegant beer at this stage. Still, quite good.

Bottle shared with (and great courtesy of) the Bergen tasting crew. Pours a black colour with a small light beige head. Powerful aroma of liqueur, bourbon, spices, coffee, oak, roasted malt and hint of white sage. Nice. The flavour has more roasted malt and bourbon and nice coffee touch. Has a rich and slick mouth feel, and a light to medium bitterness. A great and complex beer with a nice touch of bourbon.

May 2011, 0,5l bottle (batch #463) sampled @ first ever BBGTC tasting:
Fyldig sødmerik lukt med preg av mørk malt, humle, bourbon, vanilje, kaffi, mørk sjokolade, mørk frukt, litt soyasaus. Fyldig sødmerik litt syrlig smak med preg av mørk malt, humle, bourbon, vanilje, kaffi, sjokolade, mørk frukt, krydder. Middels bitterhet som set litt. Veldig god.

Bottle @ Dan’s house, picked up at De Molen. Pours a deep brown/black appearance with a brown head that dissipates pretty quickly. Quite spicy, cardamom, light caramel, mild juicy whiskey, cookie aroma. Starts out a bit boring caramel/chocolate flavor and then explodes with whiskey, anise, chocolate, roasty malty deliciousness. I was a bit disappointed at first but it really turns into a delicious caramel/toffee/whiskey/chocolate goodness.
