When it came time to brew Bottleworks 13th anniversary beer, we turned to Stone to brew this behemoth. "The Matts" traveled down to San Diego in December to help create this 13-hop, 13-grain monument to our 13 years of selling great craft beer!

Bottle, 22oz, at TFODRBSG-12. A more or less clear one, dark brown in color and with a dense, light beige head. Roasted, chocolatey aroma with some spiced hints. Alcohol too, and some raisin notes. Quite pleasant, but a bit too much I think. The flavor is more balanced and pleasant, it’s warming on the palate, full-bodied and dryish, yet it’s quite sweet tasting. Roasted malts, chocolate notes, some raisins and a faint spiced hint. Lasting roasted, bitter, dry and warming finish. A beer well suited for an anniversary. 120818

Bottle sample @ 2nd RBBSG, August 11th 2012. Courtesy of Ajax25g.

Bottle thanks to RiversideAK. Pours a dark mahogany color with a small white head. A sweet toffee and caramel nose with some light fruit. The flavor is a big ASA with caramel, light roast, plums, toffee and chocolates, very big but smooth. Dusty at times. Good. Big malts the hops are there with some bitterness and fruit.
