Arend Tripel is a golden, blond delicious tripel with an ageable hoppy scent, a silken mouthfeel; a subtle malty taste, a delicate bitterness of hops and a delicious aftertaste with a surprising fruitiness without being overly sweet. It has a very balanced and enjoyable bitter finish that lingers briefly.

Fra fat på A La Mort Subite i Brussel 5 Mai 11. Lysegul. Litt uklar. Fin fruktig aroma. God fruktig smak med litt krydder. Ok balansert. Svakt syrlig ettersmak.

Bottle: Clear, deep golden, small persistent white head, sweet pale-malty nose, bisquits underneath, some nutty traces and orange-peel as well; solid sweet flavour with a slight bitterness; slightly drier sweet-bitter finish, orange peel and hops detectable. O.K., not very exciting......

Honey and some earth notes in the aroma. Palate has too much CO2 and is rather dry too. Flavour is slightly earth-like but it has some sweetish honey and butter too. Nothing really disturbing here, but not a good tripel either.

Bottle with a best before date of July 2012. Pours with a hazy, deep golden hued body with a large, rocky and long lasting egg-shell hued white head. Noticeable effervescence. Aromas of esters, resembling pears and light citrus. A bit of a grainy/bready malt profile sticks out. Candi sugars and a slight sweetness. A bit musty. Light peppery phenols, clove, alcohol and a touch of spicy hops. Flavors are candied fruits, citrus and tangerine with an estery profile and light alcohol spiciness. Peppery phenols pair well with the alcohol spice. A bit too sweet for my taste in tripels. Bready malt profile. Not much hop flavor or bitterness. Some nice warmth, good duration and an alcohol and estery finish. Not quite dry enough, and a bit more body than most tripels. Lively carbonation. Somewhat creamy. Decent.

Pours a hazy orange with fluffy, dense bubbles. Tons of tiny bubbles rising through the beer have a champagne effect. Deep, complex yeasty aroma. Full mouthfeel leads to a chewy biscuit and some high fruit. Massive carbonation. Slightly tangy finish.

(Bottle, Monk’s Café Wallingatan, Stockholm) Orangey amber colour with brief, frothy, white head. Fruity, malty nose with orange, apricots, crystal malt and candy sugar. Fruity, malty taste with notes of dried apricots, orange peel, and a touch of treacle. Spicy bitterness in a fairly sharp and sweet finish. More than medium body. A decent tripel. (7/4/6/4/13=3.4) Rerate: (Draught at In De Wildeman, Amsterdam, 27 Aug 2022) Golden colour with frothy, white head. Fruity, malty nose with notes of apricots, orange peel, candy sugarand herbs. Fruity, malty taste with apricots, orange, candy sugar and a mild herbal bitterness. Almost full body, with a certain sweetness. Not overly complex, but tasty, harmonious and well balanced. Very nice.

Transparent golden liquid with a big rocky white head, which puffed up hugely as I poured. Smells of light coriander, lots of simple sweet malt and apricots. The flavor is just sorta simple and sweet. Lots of sugar and very light caramel. It’s a nice, enjoyable beer but lacks depth. Spicing takes a backseat to the sugary malt. Mouthfeel is gentler than expected. Bit of a cloying aftertaste. I’m a fan of the label.
