Bottled. Cloudy brown color, huge brownish head. Bottles is no gusher, but is building up foam in the bottle. Aroma gives soft grassy hops on a roasty and chocolat malt base. Some yeast and spiciness as well, which reminds me of a certain brewery. Quite spicy bitterness. Finishes chocolate and loads of grassy and spicy bitterness. More malt based, but with a firm bitterness. Lacks good hop aroma, but it’s possible it’s an older bottle. Therefore it smells more like a stout. So, for a black IPA it lacks hop aroma, but for a stout it’s too hopbitter in taste. A bit unbalanced though.

33cl bottle shared by Dutchdrebus. Opaque dark brown color, medium sized dense beige head that lasts for a long time. Smell malts, hops, some citrus. Taste malts, hops, bitter, slightly grapefruit. Mainly bitter and roasty though. Medium body, medium to full carbonation. Not as good as I had hoped.

Bottle @ home, thx to Angela. Dark brown colour, big off-white head. Smells herbs, some malts, some green twigs... I have trouble defining the smell. Tastes bitter, hops, very subtle roastyness and coffee, nuts. Not the best Berghoeve beer. Thin to medium body, soft carbo.
