33cl bottle shared by Arve_Christian - thanks! Pours slightly hazy deep golden to amber with a fair, white head. Fruity and mild malty with lightly yeasty and spicy notes and hints of alcohol and banana. Sweet, fruity and malty with a mild bitterness. Not quite my favourite type of beer, but quite okay.

Bottled. Slightly hazy orangeish amber colour with a mediumsized white head, that leaves lace. Aroma is fruity, floral, some ripe fruits, mild raisins, alcohol and mild syrupy notes along with some wooden and mild toffeeish notes. Flavour is quite similar, in a rather sweet way. A bit too sweet for my taste, still quite a flavourbomb though. Nice spicy yeastiness lurking in the finish as well. --- Beer merged from original tick of Ferre Quad on 28 Aug 2015 at 01:41 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 6 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 6.5. Maenhout’s quadrupel from a 75 cl bottle bought at Van Eetvelde. Cloudy coppery brown colour with ochre hue, cloudy, less dark than expected; creamy, lacing, stable, off-white head. Aroma of brown sugar, rotting pear, banana, orange liqueur, caramel, cooked red cabbage, medlar, very sweet honey, bread and wodka-like alcohol. Very sweet taste, cloying candi syrup, soft carbo, banana, peach and candied dates, honeyish and caramelly malt sweetness, full and fluffy mouthfeel, some earthy hop bitterishness in the finish but not nearly enough to balance out the brown sugar sweetness - clearly fermentation has not finished here; some brown rhum-like alcohol plays in the end too, badly hidden even for a 10% ABV beer and even a bit burning in the end. Way too sweet for my taste: seems like an attempt to imitate La Trappe Quadrupel, very sweet already, and failing at doing so. Needs a lot more work!
