Definitely alive and kicking in Belgium. De Lantaarn, Leuven. Poured a dark amber body with a white head. Light malty nose, raisins. Maltiness is the dominant flavor in this one, slightly dry, dusty, some raisins. Simple, light hoppy bitter finish. Balanced and completely, utterly ordinary, as befits the brewery I guess.

25 cl. bottle purchased @ ALBO // according to the bottle brewed @ Inbev Belgium, according to RB and alias for this one which is both retired & brewed elsewhere, odd // anyway, Belgian version // clear amber with a creamy beige head // smells like caramel, metals & grass hops // taste is sweet caramel malts blended with pils malt / adjunct type of thing, dash metallic side to the caramel, fruity, peach, dash brown sugar, grass hops finish, weird metallic, caramel sweet overall // lightly sticky body & fizzy // weird Inbev thing, could have been okay, maybe they were trying, kind of hard to tell // quite odd

(Bottle 25 cl) Belgian version. Amber coloured beer wit a discreet, creamy head. Slightly nutty, malty feel with a surprisingly good body for it’s rather low alcohol. Distinct hoppy finish. Nice beer. 310899

Foxy-amber; little white head, fast reduced to rim. Parsley-perfumed colourmalt nose. Quite sweet, perfumed malt taste, no hops discernible - in a British pale ale! Marzipan flavour. Again roasted colour malt in the finish. Medium bodied, watery texture, burning feeling (not alcohol). Dead-boring ale. If the beer I tasted was made at the BBC in Boston, then I am the bogus Pope of Brussels. Non mais!
