Pour is a dark amber with a large tan head. Aroma is caramel covered dark plumbs. Flavor is sweet rich molasses malts with a little dark fruit and red berry at the end. Hides the alcohol well but this is super sweet and heavy. Still pretty tasty.

On tap at KC Bier, pours a hazy dark amber brown with a small beige head. Aroma brings out toasted caramel, bready malt and a hint of toasted malt. Flavour is rich and malty, with toasted caramel, bready malt, and some residuals sugars that are appropriate. Malty and sturdy. Very good.

Bottle from Tavour. Pours dark, clear mahogany with a decent creamy beige/tan head. Aroma of chocolate, treacle and darkish fruit. Med plus body. Flavor is darkish fruit, chocolate, treacle. Not dry, but not sticky. Lightly bitter with floral/grassy hop. Good flavor. Bet it would go great with pumpernickel.

Very clean and easy to drink with a moderate toffee finish. A faint dry noble hop back there as well. Very nicely done. Moderate head strength and stickynlacing. Cleaner brown color. Surprisingly well hidden alcohol.

12 oz goblet draft at Red Door in Leawood, Kansas. The pour is a darker brown reddish with a well formed 1 inch tan head that falls slow with nice lacing. The aroma is softly sweet fruit malt, along with warming alcohol. The taste is a nice, clean simple Doppelbock - featuring the fruit malt of the nose, bit of caramel and the warming alcohol heat that accents the big malt character nicely. As the beer warms, a bit of yeast is evident. The palate is medium to heavy bodied, with natural active carbonation and a clean softly sweet finish. This style is often too sweet for me, this beer manages the sweet character well. Nice one.
