American Pale Ale (Tasting Room Series)

Internally nicknamed “Mutiny Ale” because it was brewed while Boulevard Brewmaster Steven Pauwels was on vacation, Tasting Room − Extra Pale Ale is composed of a simple malt base of pale malt, Carapils and Cara 50 to allow massive hopping with Bravo, Amarillo, Calypso, Citra, Simcoe, Chinook, and Equinox to shine. Added multiple times during the boil, the same hops (with the exception of Bravo) are also employed in dry-hopping to deliver huge aromas of passion fruit, pine, black pepper, peach and grapefruit. Subtle sweetness from the touch of caramel malts used keeps Tasting Room − Extra Pale Ale balanced and begging you to take another sip.

Malt: Pale malt, Cara Pils, Cara 50
Kettle/Whirlpool Hops: Bravo, Amarillo, Calypso, Citra, Simcoe, Chinook, Equinox
Dry-hopping: Amarillo, Calypso, Simcoe, Chinook, Citra

12 oz. bottle, pours a clear copper golden with a small white head. Nose is oxidized, with toasted biscuity malt, cardboard and subdued earthy hops. Flavour is the same - with earthy notes and cardboard. Totally off. Thanks Eugene.

10th rater! 12oz bottle, BB 28AUG17. Faint haze pale color. This beer has nothing I like or want. Not sure if it would have been better fresher. Its all peppery, vegetal, herbal hoppiness, just unattractive to me. A little citrus and sweet hop underneath but the rest just sticks to my palate, makes me cringe, and wont go away.

12 oz bottle purchased as part of a Boulevard mixed 12 pack at Harry’s in Leawood, Kansas. Feb 20 2017 bottled on date printed on the bottle neck. The pour is a mostly clear golden orange with a 1/2 inch egg white head that falls quick with splotches of lace. The aroma is fresh citrus, grass, resin hop and a bright cracker malt. The taste is the clean citrus, floral and resin hop notes balanced really well with the clean fresh cracker malt. The palate is light bodied with active natural carbonation and a mineral hop floral bitter with the clean dry malt finish. Nice one, this should be the everyday Pale Ale.

12oz bottle. A pretty solid APA. Has some classic caramel malt tendencies, but enough hop depth to keep it fresh and interesting. Clean mouthfeel, none of that modern cloying dextrose feel. On the full side of medium bodied. Fresh, enjoyable, well crafted.
