Deep and quite strong deep copper and bronze coloured body with a thinnish, fast-dying tan head and a glow of manuka honey coloured bronze. Aroma of pungent honey, strong wheat, yeast, coriander seed, alcohol warmth, funk and a bit more deep assertive malts. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong rich honey and wheat flavour at first that gives way immediately to pungent grain and spices with a little sweetness around from the curacao, but immediately bitter and harsh from the yeast and spices, whcih show strongly throughout. Aftertaste is bitter as well with a lot of grain, some wheat/yeast notes, a big deal of alcohol throughout and a kick from the sweetness, but not enough to pass through the malts. Overall, a decent tripel at best, with perhaps too strong of a flavour, from the malts, along with the alcohol warmth and the spices to make this a robust, and complex/layered beer that goes down even slightly easily - this is the exact opposite. Granted, I didn't age it my typical ~1 or 2 years for the style, but this shouldn't have to be aged and should show better, or simply shouldn't be bought, especially at high price points. I sampled this 50 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in New York (Columbus Circle), New York on 11-June-2017 for US$10,99 sampled at home in Washington on 23-October-2017.

500mL bottle at Max’s Taphouse for $5. I could not pass on this bargain, I mean this brewery is so over my price point otherwise, typically over $10. How did Max’s do it? Big, bog head atop a clear golden body. Foamy, sticky, bubble bath like. Beer has a *stellar* nose, get it, hehe. Strong baked good sweetness but not sweet sigar or sticky. Airy baked goods cooling on the windowsill. Kind of earthy, down to earth herbal character as well to balance it. The description states there is brett but I did not recognized this as brett at the time of drinking. Flavor lacks the heat or the stickiness that can ruin the style. A little thicker mouthfeel but light on the cheeks. Really nice, I hope to pick up another bottle next time I get to Max’s.
