Superb golden ale from the Maes brewery. Clear gold, strong complex flavours with a dry aftertaste. Not to heavy in body and quite lively. Should suit the British palate well. Best served in it's own glass. 8,5% alc. Serving temperature 16 •c

Judas was launched in 1986 and was originally brewed in Brasserie Union at Jumet, until production moved to Alken in 2007.

Slightly unclear golden. Good white head and lacing. Aroma of yeast, tropical fruits, spices and coriander. Very inviting. Taste of ripe banans, peach and coriander with a mild to moderate bitterness. Warm aftertaste.

Bottle at home. One year old. Has a golden, dark straw colour with a big, creamy and off-white head. Aroma of citrus, wet hay, lemongrass, a little sweet but is also sour with a touch of vinegar. The flavour is more sweet and with more citrus, and some alcohol in the end. Has a slick mouth feel, and a light bitterness. A solid Belgian ale with some citric touch.

Bottle sample at a tasting at the Maierovicz’s place. Thanks kerenmk. Clear golden. Yeasty aroma with some zesty fruitiness, floral and spicy notes. Sweetish flavor, yeasty, fruity, spicy, with a drier alcoholic finish. Medium-bodied.

Bottle 33cl, BB ?. Another Alken-Maes wonder.

Bottled, 0.33l. Hazy deep golden color with medium creamy white head and decent lacing. Aroma of yeast, raisins, wine-marc, spices and light caramel malt. Taste starts sweet and rich malty, then followed by dried fruits and refreshing yeastiness. Mouthfeel is quite alcoholic, while aftertaste is mild spicy bitter. Full body, thick texture and moderata natural carbonation. I would rather see its name as Judas Priest. Anyhow, real Judas here was the bartender who tried to sell me a beer which was best before by 1.5 years...
