I enjoyed this less than I do many of their beers. A little sourness, but lots of yeast. I also taste cardamon. Tons of sediment creates a cloudy beer. None of the qualities I expect from a Flanders red are there, no balsamic, or sweetness. It isn’t bad, but I’m not quite sure what it is. Some oak in the finish.

Bottle shared by thirdeye11 (and also one in a trade from DA). Gushed violently. Pours with a hazy orange body and a tan head. Aroma is of bourbon to me (sort of earthy) with wood, oak, ash, light fruit and sour notes. Taste is sour with acid (in a gastric acid sort of way), pepper, and some tannins. Creamy carbonation with a dry mouthfeel. Not bad, but not as good as I was expecting.

10th rater, suck it Tim. Oh yeah, thanks a whole lot for the Tim. The aroma wafts the room as soon as I start pouring. It has a good medium strength acetic quality that is well reigned in by a thick maltiness. The malts have a particular aspect, not oxidation but just staleness (not in a bad way) of beer that has been sitting around a while before bottling. There are touches of some sort of brett in there. The acetic qualities grow giving off a slight cherry character. The mix of acetic and plenty of malts to keep it in line. It pours with almost no head and a bit of lacing. The beer is thick looking, even trying to keep the yeast out, it is thick. Cannot see through it. Flavor is not at all aggressive, its dominated by that acetic quality that reminds me of the Oerbier Reserrva yeast (which is a cousin of the Rodenbach yeast). Its also dominated by a brown, earthy maltiness in there. Again, well mixed. Goes down easy leaving a faint acetic essence behind. The beer has a slightly undercarbonated feel and a slightly heavier body. Really, really nice stuff. I could see this expanded with a bit more complex malt profile and a stronger carbonation.

12 oz bottle from bvc shared with beastiefan2k. Cheers to Michael Jackson, his writing led me down this beer hunting path. Pour is a hazed orange, ruby amber with a minimal off white head. Aroma of soft vinegar sour initially, as that clears the wood of the barrel comes through cleanly and strongly. After the beer opens mostly get very soft acetic oak barrel. Taste is cherry skin, mild soft sour, vinegar and finishing with big wood. The finish gives some ripe black cherry. The aftertaste has a mineral and wet dirt element which is initially pleasant, but then turned a bit flinty and not as pleasant. Palate is medium, mouth coating, finish is resin wood. Thanks a bunch for grabbing this for me Brandon.
