Thisis the darkest most viscous beer i have ever seen. Aromais very roasty, and the hops are definitly noticeable, with a LOAD of cedar. The cedar really comes through. LOts of chocoalte, and roastiness, with an odd grainy pepper flavor. Its an interesting beer, but not one of my favorites.

Notes from June 2009 Graciously shared this past weekend amongst a few new & old acquaintances. :) Pours a muddled black into my glass mug. Thick tan head. Viscous. Smell is of fibrous greens, medicinal herbs, dusty/charred malt, & dry hay. Taste is full of tobacco, coffee grounds, & bitter/bark-y wood. Malt component tastes like nearly burnt chocolate. A little vegetable-y as well. Finish felt a bit itchy. Pasty feel. Left hoping for some more familiar cedar notes. Sadly hyped. Didn't get much satisfaction out of this one, but I like the idea behind it, & would try my luck again.

Pitch black color, almost inky purple, which was a surprise. Very hoppy with dark fruit and massive dark chocolate notes. The hops are super aggressive in this. The mouth shows the same aggressiveness with some raisin. Massive bitterness and the oak comes out at the end. A bit too over the top for me, but not bad

Bottle split at RB Best Encomium share, Santa Rosa, 30/01/16 - Many Thanks ! Pitch black topped with a dirty tan swirl. Nose is light smoke, dark malts, black peppery spice, toffee, light oxidised notes. Taste comprises sticky toffee pudding, dark fruit rinds, molasses, toffee fudge, cocoa sprinkle, dates. Full bodied, fine carbonation, warming alcohol in the close. Decent enough impy but starting to lose its touch with age.
