Can at Taps Beer Bar, Changkat, Kuala Lumpur. Poured a clear light amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is big lemon citrus, light yeast. The flavour is moderate to strong bitter with a smooth citrus, woody big bitter hop palate with some light biscuit yeast notes. Medium bodied with average carbonation and a long lasting bitter finish. A super fruity super bitter IPA. I guess that’s the way they should all be!

Draft at volcano house overlooking Kilauea Crater amazing view and very event beer. Bright yellow orange pour. Nose tropical fruit nose. Tastes of grapefruit, mango, resin, peppery, and some salt. Refreshing and lingering salty and fruity finish. Very good.

Hawaiian IPA from an elaborately adorned craft beer can which makes me dream of a tropical island. Hazy, orangey, ’old gold’ coloured beer with strings of bubbles here and there, supporting a medium thick and creamy, stable, delicately lacing, egg-white head. Strong hops aroma jumping to the nose when opening the can... I get a strong piney component of cedar needles or pine resin, along with hemp, yellow grapefruit, toasted bread, papaja, unprocessed cigarette tobacco, oregano, dried jalapeno peppers, apricot. Clean and crisp onset, fruity but already at this stage more so from hops than from esters, tangelo, dried apricot, mango, hops manifesting themselves from the start, bittering already with a salty edge, minerally carbo but not overcarbonated, smooth and supple, lightly caramelly malt body in the middle, only to support an ever-increasing hop character which ends in an apotheosis of piney, resiny, grapefruity, peppery bitterness, both very aromatic (retronasally) and very ’deep’, lasting for a long time and drying the root of the tongue, but allowing a bit of the juicy caramelly malts to seep through. Very fragrant, yet uncompromising, throat-drying, spicy, almost abrasively hoppy IPA, showing much more character than I had expected. An IPA with balls. Love it!

Purchased at a random grocery store in Honolulu, HI; enjoyed at a friends place with two days left on my Hawaiian vacation, dreading going back to frozen Chicago. Appearance is a lightly cloudy darkish gold with a huge frothy white head that nicely laces to the glass. Aroma is pretty great, nice hoppy profile with a bready malt undertone, also light spruce notes. Taste goes down nice and hoppy, English hops are most prominent, and gives it a bitter yet drinkable flavor. I’m liking this one a lot, one of the best IPA’s I’ve had in a while.
