Draught @ À L’Ange Gardien, Orval. Pours cloudy amber with airy but stable off-white head. Clear aroma of fruit, malt ans flowers. Bitter, hoppy flavour, with notes of citrus, malt and yeast. Bitter and estery aftertaste with acidic notes. A very nice one.

Bottle at 't Antwaerps Bierhuyske, pours a clear golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is pretty funky, with typical Orval yeast, though a lot more restrained. Flavour is very much the same, with a very feet-like funk to it. Since regular Orval isn't really my thing, this is even less thrilling to me sadly. Not my thing.

Bottle at Akkurat, vintage 2002. Amber with a small white head. Aroma of yeast, some fruit, berries and some funk. The taste was on the light side with notes of funk, bread, yeast, berries and some spices. Quite low carbonation and with a dry finish. A descent one especially considering only 3,5% alcohol.

Bottled at the Leiderkerke Beer Festival. Cloudy amber-orange with a tall, fine head. Funky Orval nose (1-2 years or so I suppose), grassy, citrus hop, brett, caramel. Just a bit fainter than the regular, but look and nose is about the same. Light body and flavor, but good brett character and hop bitterness. Light, crisp citrus, grass, funk. Excellent. Obviously properly aged. Even more so than the Chimay Doree, the ultimate session beer?

Vacation 2013 @ Virton, Belgium. 25 cl. glass on tap @ A l’Ange Gardien. Hazy amber with a white head. Floral aroma. Slightly more yeasty and less hoppy than the regular Orval but still a great beer. I could drink this all day long but regrettably we had to go after 3 glasses.

Bottle at DHVL. 2009 vintage. Clear light copper liquid with medium to big off-white head. Aroma of light barnyard, bread, mint, light grain, light fruity funk and lemon peel. Taste is dry and light bitter with notes of light barnyard and bread. Light to medium bodied with medium carbonation. Really very similar to Orval, but lighter. The name is very fitting.

tasted the 08 and 09 vinbtage next to each other @ heeren van liedekerke both poured clear brownish, no real smell. 09 was a bit sweeter, 08 was more hoppy to me. both are rather wattery ( low alcohol beer) but had taste in a level that seemed fair for the 3,5 it is. carbonation isnt to much or to less.

2008 Vintage was mijn favoriete.
