Bottle thanks to Bruce at his 30th Birthday Bash. It pours near black with a small light tan head. The nose is roasted malt, liquorice, coffee, Dandelion & Burdock, light vanilla, plum and sweet date. The taste is roasted malt, earth, coffee, plum, charcoal, wood, alcohol warmth and molasses with a dry, earthy finish. Medium-full body and average carbonation. Decent.

Sampled at GABF. Bottled as Black Butte XX. Nose is woody, spruce, burnt sugar, caramel, vanilla. Flavor of spruce, cedar, caramel, coconut, smoke, molasses. Super smooth, woody finish. Aged really well. 100% drinkable.

22 oz. bottle, pours pitch black with a medium tan head. Aroma of chocolate beans upfront, followed by coffee beans, then vanilla and some bourbon. Flavour is uber-decadent, with a perfect balance between chocolate and coffee beans, followed by some vanilla and moderate bourbon barrel presence. Perfect amount of sweetness. Age has done wonder to this decadent dessert in a bottle. Rich, complex and very well-balanced.

Bottle shared by Wombata. Nose is vanilla, bourbon, chocolate, wood, coffee, chili peppers. Handling of the coffee seems a bit rough. Harsh grounds are coming out. Very sweetl, fruity, with coffee that is less harsh than the nose, tangy orange and chocolate, coconuts. Very sweet. Better than the XXIII that I had last week. Age has helped it a little.

Aroma is rather ashy with nettles and mocha coffee and hints of vegetables. Flavour has mocha coffee, ash, some very dark chcolate, hops and hints of nettles. Warming alcohol in the finish. Good, although the coffee is too bitter here.

Pours pitch black with a foamy light brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, earthy notes and hints of oak and vanilla. Taste is quite roasty with hints of oak, vanilla, coffee and chocolate. Finish is roasty and malty with some coffee notes. Quite tasty and well balanced porter.

66 cl. bottle sampled @ RBWG 2012 – thx to Klaas – pitch black with a mocha head – smell is thick malts, slightly roasted witch heavy slightly bitter chocolate, mocha, touch molasses, taste is thick, slightly defining bitter, roasted malts, lots of slightly bitter chocolate, mocha, cocoa, coffee (nicely heavy on coffee), hint of syrup, liquorish, slightly sweet, hint of hops, booze, slightly above medium syrupy body & medium carb.

Sampled @ RBBWG Antwerpen. Courtesy of Klaas. Pitch black opaque color, no head, just a slightly off-white lacing. Smell lightly malty, lightly earthy, alcohol, caramel and coffee. Taste moderately bitter, coffee and chocolate. Medium to full body, medium carbonation.
