Full bodied beer with sweet wheat flavor and beautiful dense foam top. It has a pleasant bitterness and unique spicy aroma with Orange Peel, Coriander, Nutmeg, Cinnamon, and Vanilla Beans. Complex yet soothing.

33cl bottle from Appellation Wines, cheers Ash! Totally the wrong time of year for the beer, sun was shining... sky was blue... and this smelled of Christmas. Aromas were big and boozy fruit cake and mixed spice, but I found this didn’t follow through and deliver the big flavours I was expecting form the aroma. Surprisingly well balanced and not the sweet finish I was (kind of) looking for. Still, a very interesting brew from a very interesting brewery.

33cl bottle from Appellation Wines. Pours amber with a lovely red/orange hue. The nose has cake mixture, then going into cinnamon and nutmeg. The taste is of more cinnamon and nutmeg but the dominant taste is more of treacle sponge pudding. The palate is medium bodied with creamy but tangy texture and a long dry finish. Overall, a nice but even more interesting, beer.

12 oz. bottle purchased at @ Nikki’s Liquors, Providence, R.I. for $5.19. Vintage 2011. How was this still on the shelf?? Lager glass shows a murky brown color. Very weak Co2. Nose is a pleasant blend of dark fruit, caramel malt and spice. . Flavors of vanilla, cinnamon, dark fruit with a slightly bitter citrus finish. Medium bodied with a sweet finish. After the age, no ABV can be found. Overall this was a decent offering. Very easy for me to drink even if it is on the sweet side.

11.2 ounce bottle into tulip, bottle code of NY.11.11(presumably November 2011?). Pours hazy reddish orange color with a nice 1-2 finger dense off white head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Some slight spotty lacing on the glass. Aromas of big bubblegum, coriander, orange peel, banana, cinnamon, pepper, wheat, caramel, vanilla, biscuit, and yeast spices. Very nice aromas here with good strength and complexity. Taste of big banana, bubblegum, pepper, coriander, cinnamon, caramel, clove, nutmeg, orange zest, wheat, biscuit, and yeast spices. Slight spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, banana, bubblegum, pepper, orange zest, and yeast spices on the finish for a good bit. Great balance of flavors with good complexity. Medium carbonation and body; with a nice creamy and slightly slick mouthfeel. Very easy to drink for 8%; with hardly any alcohol warming noticed on the finish. Overall this is a great spiced amber ale. A lot of great flavors that have nice complexity and balance.

Location: 12 oz bottle from Colonial Wine and Spirits, 2/29/12, as Hitachino Nest Commemorative Ale
Aroma: The nose is full of spice, but it also has some citrus malt notes to it
Appearance: It pours a clear orange color with a small off-white head and minimal lace
Flavor: Tastes medium sweet, fairly malty, some fruit, lots of spice, and a little bit of bitterness
Palate: The body is medium, the carbonation is lively-to-fizzy, there's a light heat, and a little stickiness
Overall Impression: I actually wanted more from this one then I got. It isn't a bad offering, but it isn't particularly good either. There isn't a great melding of the flavors in this one. It was not a top offering for me.

From the 2/2012 3R6P tasting. +++ Sampled from an 11.2 oz brown bottle this beer poured a murky caramel color with a trace white head that faded quickly and left no lacing. The aroma was sweet sugar, citrus and candied golden fruits. The flavor was tangy tangerine, grapefruit, cherry, bread, sugar, oat and vanilla with a light boozy undertone. The finish was long and tangy with mixed fruits, sugar and bread lingering. Fairly full bodied. Well done.

33 cl. bottle @ home – purchased from Alvinne, this winter’s edition - slightly hazy tangerine amber orange with a white head, little smell, bitter orange, Belgian yeast & slight touch of booze, slightly sweet upfront, slightly sweet marmalade, orange peel, Belgian yeast, plenty of caramel, touch of toffee, barelywine qualities, slightly bitter aftertaste with clear coriander, touch herbal bitterness, slick, slightly sticky, soft carb. slight let down due to ridiculous expectations
