Bottle at Jan & Charlotte’s, Ulfborg, Denmark, 08.04.11 thanks Jan & Charlotte for this. mmmhh.. strange beer this, it’s like Barley wine mixed with bubble gum There is a real vanilla streak and its spicy, bit too much of the latter in fact. Warmth from the alcohol, nice sweetness. Interesting beer but not totally my thing. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov12 3.1

Bottle bought at the Kiuchi brewery in Ibaraki 2 years ago, my last one. An orange/amber coloured pour with a huge head on top. Complex aroma of spice, orange. Tastes of vanilla, orange, cinnamon, spice, dark fruit. Belgian in character. Very nice indeed, hope to pick up some more on my next trip to Japan this year.

330mL bottle, pours bright orange with a big white head. Subtle aroma of spices (cinnamon, nutmeg, coriander) and yeast. Flavour is a wonderfully balance of the mentioned spices, with rich caramel/toffee flavours and a nice hoppiness in the finish. Very good.

Dark brown ale. Very thick. Some sediment, but held up pretty well for having aged several years. Rated 4/15/10

Pours orange/amber with a large head that keeps growing.Nose shows nutmeg, wheat, lots of phenols, coriander. Orange peel is noticeable as a sharp tangy note and later as marmalade. Vanilla is subdued initially but quickly becomes more prominent. Aromas from the malt show distinct golden syrup and brown sugar. Very sweet, very complex, very interesting.Upon tasting....well, let me say this is pretty full-on. Loads of malt with lots of brown sugar notes, some wheat, a fair bit of booze. Very Belgian, has some qualities you’d expect in a Dubbel. Coriander and nutmeg show through. The coriander continues into the lengthy finish, along with a light bitterness and smooth alcohol.Creamy body and carbonation, although higher carbonation would do well to cut the bitterness.

5th November 2008. Very very lively and frothy beer that took a good 10 mins to settle down and mop up! Worth the wait and effort. Cloudy brown with an immense white head. Doesn’t smell infected. Sweet effervescent orange cream held in check by the less sweet coriander. The other spices are subtle (which makes a refreshing change). Really nicely joined up. Very very moorish and a superb beer.

2009 bottle. Pours with a large, creamy, off-white head over a hazy amber body. Aroma has some sourness and vinous notes, mint, spices, and florals too numerous to mention. Taste is belgian yeast and slightly sour, belgian candi, spices, and sweet spices including nutmeg and vanilla. Foamy/lively bubbles and a dry mouthfeel. A bit of a convoluted mess really.

11.2 ounce bottle from Plaza Liquors in Johnson City, TN (adjacent to Libation Station). Pours a hazy ruby color with a large head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma is toffeish malts, wood and lots of spice, with nutmeg and citrus particularly showing through. Taste is citrus, dark malts, wood, vanilla, spice. Almost liqueur like. Alcohol makes its presence known, and is warming, but the beer is not hot. Full bodied with fairly strong carbonation. I’m liking this one a lot. Well done.
