8.5/10 — Appearance 8 Aroma 9 Flavor 8 Texture 8 Overall 9
Very slowly ascending carbonation to fluffy, just off-white head over chestnut-coloured beer with an orange sheen. Superb winey nose, sweet grapes, vinous as none, and a complexity beyond belief. Sweet, not cloying, very fruity with sweet overripe peach, strawberry and muscat grape; incense and delicate, slightly cheesy flavours. Alcoholwarming, very slick and oily, viscous. This is definitely amongs the most refined Alvinne products, bringing the line onto another level. Superb marriage between the grain and the grape!

15/01/2011 - 37.5cl bottle @ Alvinne Proefzolder (2011-19)

Note: sampled this beer at the Alvinne brewery, official presentation of the beer. Thanks at Kristof from "De Bistronoom" (Oostende) for the sample!

Clear copper red beer, practically no head, just a very small white rim. Aroma: sweet caramel, raisins, dried fruits, vanilla, wood (oak?), alcohol. MF: soft, very little carbon, medium body, somewhat syrupy texture. Taste: sweet caramel, candi sugar, ripe fruits (on warming up: strawberries, raspberries), vanilla. Aftertaste: dried fruits, slight hoppy bitterness, nuts.
