Rund malzig alkoholischer Antrunk. Deutliche Rum Noten, insgesamt ist das Bier aber nicht vollmundig. Die Lagerung war anscheinend zu lange. 9/11/8/8/9/9

(Bottle) Black colour with brief, foamy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with black coffee, liquorice, soy sauce, muscovado sugar, tar, oak wood and sweetish hints of rum. Malty, roasted taste with notes of strong sweet espresso, tar, liquorice, soy sauce, muscovado sugar, hints of oak wood and a sweet ans slightly boozy finish with a generous cocoa bitterness. Full body, quite sweet. The wood character feels a bit toned down, but gives a certain sweetness and alcohol feel. Not really balanced, but quite tasty. Very nice.

Sample at the "Far Out! Space-themed beer tasting" on 10/01/2013. Opaque brown-black pour with a medium foamy beige head that recedes steadily. Rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of rum, coffee and malt. Full-bodied with flavors of sweet rum, espresso and charred malt. The finish is somewhat boozy with a rum-infused coffee aftertaste. Good overall.

Bottle from De Bierkoning, Amsterdam. Drunk on deck crossing the Irish Sea to Dublin. Black looks, with a creamy brown head. Dark choc ahoy in the nose with roast, dark fruit and rum notes. A similar tale in the taste which had notes of vanilla, booze and coffee also. Full bodied, smooth and very drinkable. The warming finish showcased the rum aging very well . As a rum lover this was right up my street and seemed the perfect drink to sip on the high seas. Top notch stuff.
