Bottle at Boreft Bier Festival 2010, Bodegraven. Black coloured brew with oak-barrel smell, taste of caramel, vanilla, chocolate and hints of the rum.

Green bottle, 12 ounces, savoured on 20 August 2024; eye: very dark brown, opaque, no effervescence, rather large ring of brown bubbles, no lacing; nose: coffee, molasses, light rum, light honey; mouth: coffee, molasses, light rum, finale in coffee with light presence of rum, medium-full bodied, below-average carbonation, lightly sweet, slick texture; in short: correct for such an old beer FRANÇAIS
Bouteille verte, 12 onces, savourée le 20 août 2024; œil : brune très foncé, opaque, pas d’effervescence, anneau de bulles brunes plutôt grosse, pas de dentelle; nez : café, mélasse, léger rhum, léger miel; bouche : café, mélasse, léger rhum, finale en café avec légère présence de rhum, corps moyen-corsé, carbonatation sous la moyenne, légèrement sucrée, texture coulante; en résumé : correct pour une bière si vieille

Bottle thanks to toby pours out black topped with a ring of a head. Nose is booze soy and some old ash malts. Taste is more of the ash smoke booze.

From bottle @ BBF 2010. Almost black and opague. Roast, soy sauce, maple syrup and licorice in the aroma. Sugary sweet flavor with licorice and hints of soy sauce. I didn’t taste much rum, however I did taste warming alcohol.

Bottle 2010, shared with BBGTC. Pours black, with almost no head. Aroma is dark roasted malts with dark fruits, rum raisins, tobacco and cocoa, as well as muscovado and wooden barrels. Creamy body, with no carbonation. Flavour is bitter roasted malts, with cold coffee, leather and cocoa, as well as wooden barrels, some hot notes and liquorice.
