Dark Belgian wheat ale.
Import series volume 3. Dark Belgian Wheat Ale. Brewed with good friend, Urbain Coutteau of De Struise Brouwers. Urbain describes this work as "Dark chess-nut coloured ale with a nice steady off-white head. Aroma is all about finesse, loads of blossoms and spring flowers. The mouth-feel is refined, playful and complex with Saison like peppery flavours. Soft nutty after taste with a bite."

Sampled from bottle at PIB, pours hazy dark reddish brown. Aroma of yeast, darker malts and wheat. Flavour of light chocolate, lots of yeast, candied sugar and wheat. Smooth, yeast body with a chocolatey, wheaty finish. Very enjoyable.

Bottle. It’s an unclear, brown beer with a small, off-white head. Roasted hints, dried fruits and some yeasty hints on the nose. Some licorice hints. Full-bodied and a bit sweetish on the palate, pleasant carbonation. Lasting flavor with roasted malts, licorice, spice and yeast hints and some lemon peel. Quite bitter. A slightly strange unusual one, but nice and tasteful. 110708

11.2 oz. bottle. Pours murky brown with a large and persistent khaki head. The aroma is dark fruits, caramel, cinnamon, toasted bread, apricots and grapefruit. The flavor is sweet up front, with some bitterness in the finish and a nice sharp spiciness. The palate is medium, a little watery, and clingy. The aftertaste is mellow and sweet, with a fairly significant alcohol warming. Overall, a fantastically complex and unusual beer. Very nice.

0.33l bottle courtesy of and shared with ClubGonzo. Pours a cloudy deep brown body with a small caramel head. Aroma is nice and hopy with notes of grapes, freshly cut hedge, Belgian yeast and some light chocolate infected raisins. Medium-bodied, average carbonated and it has a silky/oily mouthfeeling. Tastes quite pepperish and yeasty with strong notes of sweet caramel, hops and spices. Some cloves also in here? Ends with light alcohol in the finish leaving a mild warming feeling. Really smooth and balanced brew.

Great looking bottleart. Smell was above average, other than that the beer wasn’t that special. Not bad, but not my style of beer.
