Dark Belgian wheat ale.
Import series volume 3. Dark Belgian Wheat Ale. Brewed with good friend, Urbain Coutteau of De Struise Brouwers. Urbain describes this work as "Dark chess-nut coloured ale with a nice steady off-white head. Aroma is all about finesse, loads of blossoms and spring flowers. The mouth-feel is refined, playful and complex with Saison like peppery flavours. Soft nutty after taste with a bite."

33 cl bottle from Cracked Kettle. Pours a dark brown color with a huge, creamy beige head, not lasting. Lots of aromas: wheat, herbs & spices, (hop) flowers, hints of chocolate and citrus. Flavor is slightly sweet, with only a hint of bitterness and tartness. There’s some alcoholwarming, but it’s not boozy at all. Some (herbal) bitterness in the finish. Maybe not so well balanced, but there’s a lot going on aroma & flavor wise, so it’s definitely worth the try.

Bottle: Poured a slightly hazy dark brown color ale with a huge off-white foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of banana ester with light cloves notes. Taste is a complex mix of cloves and banana ester with semi-sweet wheat malt with nice Belgian twist. Body is full with great carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Another very well brewed beer from those two fine brewers.

Bottle from the Yeast Shop. Poured a murky brown colour with a generous, largely lingering tan head. Vibrant nose of dark fruit, spices, brown sugar and yeast. Lovely smooth mouthfeel. Flavour was sweet and had further fruit/spice notes in tandem with a slight tartness which dissipated as the gently warming booze kicked in. Some hop presence in the shadows. Sweetness lingered on in to the finish. Plenty to admire here. Quality beer.
