Dark Belgian wheat ale.
Import series volume 3. Dark Belgian Wheat Ale. Brewed with good friend, Urbain Coutteau of De Struise Brouwers. Urbain describes this work as "Dark chess-nut coloured ale with a nice steady off-white head. Aroma is all about finesse, loads of blossoms and spring flowers. The mouth-feel is refined, playful and complex with Saison like peppery flavours. Soft nutty after taste with a bite."

4/04/2011 33cl bottle @ home - BB: ? (2011-133)
Darkbrown cloudy beer, beige creamy dense head, very stable and adhesive. Aroma: very intense and complex! There's caramel, dried fruits, liquorice, overripe strawberries, citrussy hops, alcohol, pineapple, lots of stuff. MF: ok carbon, full body. Taste: liquorice and spices, sweet caramel, mocha, pineapples (the hops), ripe fruits, alcohol present in the back of the throat but still very well hidden. Ripe banana's, nutty, chocolate. It just won't stop. Aftertaste: sour berries, gentle hops, milk chocolate and sweet pineapple. This is really amazing beer. And of course it's all sold out now. :(

Very good, fine & dense yellowish head, fed by lively carbonated, totally opaque brown beer. Perfumed wheat nose, banana- and other fruity esters, and spices as cloves. Smells much more as a Dunkelweizen, then as anything "Belgian". Initial sweet liquorice overdose in the mouth; melanoidins, but not very refined. Finish has sweeter banana and berries; medium-sweet chocolat. Very carbonated feel; smooth, viscous & velvety texture, heavily bodied. With the exception of the first liquorice assault upon tasting, nice enough beer, à cheval on the Belgian, and German wheat ideas.

From bottle at ACBF 2011. Dark brown in the glass, small head. Aroma of malt and chocolate. Starts mild-malty, nice caramel notes, modest sweet. Alcohol is well hidden. Finish well balanced, still light notes of chocolate. Very good beer!

On tap. Hazy and slightly muddy brown with a small off-white head. The nose is rich in intense Belgian yeast, dark fruits, brown sugar and friendly phenols. Solid body, dried fruit, brown sugar and a little yeast. A good hoppiness in the finish rounds this off and creates a superb balance. A very complex and interesting beer, to me it comes out as a Quad, a hoppy Quad. Kudos Brian and Urbain. 140311

Draft. An red-brown beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma has notes of malt and caramel B the aroma is very light. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, over ripe fruits, caramel, pepper, and other spices, leading to a dry spicy finish.
