This is obviously a celebratory beer. Its high alcohol content (10 degrees by volume) and the other organoleptic characteristics that distinguish it, such as some unusual ingredients, among which the Champagne yeasts, two types of honey (wildflower and acacia) and some stand out wild fruits, among which the sour cherry and the blackthorn are the prizes. Its foam is affected by the intense alcohol content and is not necessarily persistent any longer than is allowed by its powerful ethyl burden.

75 cl. bottle/shared@Chez Moeder Lambic: swing-top, version with a white label and blue peacock, cloudy orange/slight pink hue, taste is lots of slightly sweet wheat, pale malts, slightly tart & boozy fruits (raspberries, oranges, grapes, berries,…), hoppy, esters, spices, hint of venous aftertaste, slight booze aftertaste, hint of Champagne body & carb

Very fine & dense head with a faint pinkish sheen; orange-amberish beer with again a faint rosy/pink haze; textbook lace. Alcoholic, fruity (wild fruit, unripe raspberry, orangezeste), and greenery. Again unripe or wild, tart fruit. Faint artichoke-like flavour with some more pale malts and other grain. In a discreet way, vinous. Quite carbonated MF, some alcohol, but again discreet. Medium bodied at best, seems well-attenuated. Fine, but not really outstanding. Wheat is not obvious. I wonder what the Garrett Oliver connection might be. The Italian is too exotic for me.

Bottle at Cafe Buitenlust, Oirschot. Italian beer tasting presented by Benito. Smell fresh, light sweetness, light fruity. Taste the same. Almost a little champagne-like. Good carbo and body.

Tasted this at a special tasting session at Café Buitenlust, Oirschot, given by Benito. It’s quite an experience to drink this one. A colour i hadn’t seen before, very luxurious glasses. Doesn’t have to much of a smell except for something sweetish, honey like. Some people loved it, but to me it was a bit to watery and lacking in taste. Special one though.

25/11/2010 - 75cl bottle @ horeca expo 2010

Cloudy light amber coloured beer, little white head. Aroma: malts, grasses, spices, some hops. MF: soft carbon, medium to full body. Soft creamy texture. Taste: first sweet malts, then some spices, hop bitters and fruits. Aftertaste: fruity, citrus fruits, hop dryness. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of this beer.

Note: I also had another sample from a bottle with yellow label, with lots of American hops. It was even better, but alas no tasting notes. :(
