In 2006, almost exactly 10 years after we first released Stone Smoked Porter, Stone Small Batch Brewer Laura Ulrich had a brilliant idea: What if she added whole Madagascar vanilla beans to a small batch of the finished beer? And voilà, Stone Smoked Porter w/Vanilla Bean was born! It was an instant hit, as the resulting flavor combinations—rich vanilla melding with the malty, chocolaty, coffee-like characteristics of the beer—were practically made for each other. Originally available only as an occasional growler fill or on tap all-too-briefly at special events or in our restaurant, this exquisite creation was released in a single bottle run for the first time in 2012, much to the delight of its many fans…who instantly began clamoring for more. Your voices have been heard.

Can to glass...very dark brown with a beige head
So, I did not expect this to be so bitter.
This shows up mainly in the finish. I really wanted to find the good here, but the bitter takes over.
Malty? Smokey? Wish I could taste those qualities!!

Dark brown, thin head. Kind of a vanilla and buttery aroma. Yeah, big miss with artificial vanilla clashing harshly with bitter porter that isn’t actually that smokey. Jesus this is actually a mess.

Draught @ Fox & Hounds, Sønderborg. Pours cloudy very dark brown with stable beige head. Clear aroma of roast, vanilla and malt, with touches of smoke, chocolate and yeast. Bitter, roasty flavour with touches of hops and sweetish notes of vanilla and malt and yeast. Hints of coffee and dark chocolate. Roasty aftertaste with vanilla hints. High carbonation - perhaps a tad too high - but otherwise everything is quite decent.

Pours a deep dark brown with a slight off-white head from a bottle. Aroma of chocolate and caramel/toffee. Flavor of dark chocolate and smoked wood, a little thin in the mouth IMHO. Good beer.
