750ml bottle. Quasi black colour with huge, frothy, half-way lasting, minimally lacing, tan head. Vinous and chocolately dark malty aroma, notes of cocoa, chocolate cookies, dark berries, blue grapes. Taste is similarly chocolately and vinous with more roasty dark malty notes and some coffee in the finish. Nice.

Bottle @ weekly tasting shared by Joes. Opaque black color, average to medium sized beige to light brown head. Aroma is malts, dark malts, a hint of raisins, lightly roasty malts. Taste malts, roast, a hint of liquorice, slightly alcohol, slightly bitter. Decent body, firm fizzy carbonation.

Commissioned dry stout for "Ceci n’est pas une bière", an initiative from Hans Dusselier apparently (now active at the Heilig Hart brewery), hence the availability of these bottles at Ghent's Hopduvel I suppose... This rating concerns a bottle sampled at the former Bistronoom beer restaurant in Ostend. Creamy, beige head, colour a very dark burgundy, near black. Dry malty aroma of mokka, bitter chocolate, iron, tobacco; caramel malt onset, dry and a bit metallic, dried fruits, ending in an explicit roasted coffee bitterness. Good stout, doesn’t always have to be an imperial, glad some Belgian brewers dare take on another member of the stout family.
