Firefly is our lightest offering at Jackie O’s. We like to refer to it as our gateway ale. Introducing macro drinkers to this beer has proved to be effective in converting them into craft beer drinkers. Seasoned craft beer drinkers also admire the drinkability and soft but wide rage of flavors embedded within this Amber ale. A fusion of Maris Otter, Belgian Pilsen, and American 2-row provide an interesting and complex malty base for this refreshing ale. Lightly roasted malt gives Firefly a biscuit-like finish. Carefully selected hops provide an herbal and mildly citrus aroma and flavor.

Sampled on draft at Vintage Estate this beer poured a honey caramel color with a medium sized creamy white head that left good lacing. The aroma was very faint but a touch malty. The flavor was faintly sweetish and malty with hints of honey and bread and was a touch astringent. Medium length finish. Medium body. Bland.

12 oz. Can thanks to Matt B! Canned 2/10/2016. Clear copper color, thin head. Aroma is toffee, biscuit, mild weak citrus hops. No surprise with the flavor. Just as the aroma tells me. Lighter body, weak bitterness to balance the toffee. Ok, just an Amber ale

12 oz can (4.5% ABV) poured into a Spiegelau tulip. Hazy golden orange to amber with a finger of off-white head. Aromas of citrus, light tropical fruit, caramel, candied sugar, sweet biscuit. Tastes of citrus, biscuit, wheat, slight sweet malt. Medium body with a dry finish. Medium carbonation, juicy mouthfeel. Tasty.

12 oz. can, thanks to Treebute! Pours a nice, clear, copper color with a small, foamy, beige head. The aroma is resin, pine sap, sourdough bread, and peanuts. Sweet and bready, with a significant, resinous bitterness. Light to medium body, sticky, and astringent. Overall, this is not a very pleasant beer. The aroma is a little dank, and the flavor is overly, and unpleasantly, bitter.

Can: (4.5% ABV) Hazy amber-brown with a frothy beige head. Scent is earthy, leafy, toasted malt. Taste is slightly woody/nutty....a little bittering. Toffee malt. Not bad, a little dull, overall, though.
