Ruby red, Gordon Finest Red astonishes with its inimitable and pronounced fragrance. Its darkly tinted colour matches its fiery temperament. Neither brown nor pale, it is reminiscent of sumptuous Scottish landscapes, falling asleep with the sheep in the dusk, as the sun sets over the never-ending Highlands. Gordon Finest Red, round and REDoubtable by nature !

Bottle. Creamy white good mostly lasting head. Lots of hoppy flowers in aroma. Really good. Nice hoppy bitter flavor, average finish. Oily palate, strange european strong lager, but I really like this beer.

(Can 50 cl) Clear and very dark amber golden with a small, off-white head. Odd, perfumy nose. Medium body with sweet, malty accents and - again - perfume. Very alcoholic finish. Odd, but not that bad. 130806

(Bottle 33 cl) Beautiful, reddish amber colour with a delicate, creamy, beige head that leaveas a pretty curtain of laces. Aroma of malt and alcohol. Full-bodied with a very sugary sweetness. Some slightly perfumy, fruity notes are hiding in the flavour making this a rather unusual strong lager. Rather discreet bitterness. 240106

On tap at The Highlander, Antwerp. Red beer with lasting beige creamy head. Creamy sweet red fruit malt aroma. Bit too much sweet sugar candy. Finish has some dry malt, but too sweet and overall a bit daft.

A deep red beer with a huge light brown head. The aroma is extremely sweet with notes of alcohol, berries, and citrus. The flavor is also very sweet with strong notes of alcohol, which gives it hints of metal - too sweet and alcoholic for my liking. The flavor also contains notes of berries and wood, and it has a dry end.

A dark amber beer with a fine light brown head. The aroma is of sweet caramalt. The flavor is awful - too sweet with notes of caramel and the alcohol burning the mouth. Yuk - I don’t like this.

My can says 8.4% ABV, rather than 8% Burnished copper colour; thin amberish tinted head. Crude alcoholic, sweet-liqueurish nose. Soap - and artichoke (?) and almonds aromas. Sweet & alcoholic taste, palate filling it with a faint but clear almond flavour - always a bad sign in my book. There are quite some indifferent malts, adjunct-like. Extremely thin MF for an 8+ ABV beer. Yet there’s some syrupy texture for some seconds. Aftertaste is metallic. Barely worth the can.Earlier Rating: 6/1/2003 Total Score: 3.2Thick white-brownish head. Red-amber beer. Nose of banana's, peaches, a bit of alcohol & caramel malt. Bitter taste, bananas, very bubble-gummy, sweet underbuild. Good carbonation, bitterness is very much in the palate, but the sweetness is there all the way till the end. Alcohol present but well-hidden by all the sweetness. Powerful, but unrefined. I wonder if there's much difference with the 'ordinary' Red Gordon. No competition for the origan Scotch and X-mas.

Clear redbrown color, initially thick rocky head. Aroma is sweet malty, bit chocolate like, caramel and fruity. Sweet caramel taste. Sticky palate.

Miggedy mack nasty. Amber-red colour. Slightly metallic, grainy aroma with a touch of caramel , whiskey and slight apple fruitiness. Strong alcoholic punch, palate wise - fusels and general unpleasantness from corn and sugar. The finish is all St. Ides.

2003-01-21, bottle, as Gordon Halloween Strong Red Beer, 8.8% ABV, 4-4-5-3-11
Amber color; beautiful head. Sweetish strong beer, alcohol touch, light fruity palate (candy).

2003-01-01, bottle, as Gordon Finest Red, 8.8% ABV, 1-3-1-2-4=11
Red-amber color, creamy head. Aroma of cheap Strong Lager. And definitively tastes like any Strong Lager, just with some maltiness and sweetnees above the average; alcoholic. Poor palate.
