Pour is a dark brown with a large tan head. Aroma is sweet caramel malt. Flavor is decently roasted caramel malt with a little earthyness left on the tounge after the swallow. A decent no frills dunkel.

Bottle looks simple but good. Beer in the glass very dark, almost black. Nice head. Starts mild, fine malty, not too roasty. Hints of caramel. Well balanced finish, quite drinkable. Really good dunkles.

Bottle as Monk’s Christmas from the Arden BevMo in Sacramento, CA. Pours ruddy dark brown with a fine off-white head. Smells rather sweet and roasty. Med body. Flavor is rather light, and not that sweet. The description says Landbier, and I think that’s suggestive. There’s something herby holding back the sweet. Drinks very pleasantly.

Small, off-white head over copper-amber beer. Parsley, nuts, bread for aromas. Nutty, chestnuts, bread and EU-hops. Rather light MF, but more heavy backthroat, despite falling flat by then. Danke, Jonas!
