The first fruits of our Tryanuary brewday, this is Tonkoko like you haven't seen her before! Coming in at a mighty 10.6% and (of course) with even more coconut, tonka, chocolate and vanilla. Boozy, indulgent and so good. Very limited quantities, this is a sneak peek before the barrel aged versions are unleashed next year.

Black beer, not much head, just a filmy tan ring. (Steady...) Flavour is malty, with loads of vanilla and a little coconut. Flavour really leans into the tonka and vanilla which is a big win for me, dash of coconut, sweet and toasty malt, boozy warmth. Rich and very tasty. A little more coconut than I would personally care for but not enough to knock it.

ABV: 10.6%. Clear dark black brown colour with a average, frothy - creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, coffee, tonka, vanilla. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and light to moderate bitter with a long duration, tonka - vanilla bitter, tonka, sweet malt, dark malt, chocolate, vanilla. Body is medium to medium full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft, finish feel is warming and light alcoholic. [20191011]

Can from Eltham Wines. Black pour with a tan head. Aromas of milk chocolate, sweet tobacco, coconut, raisin, tonka. Heavy tonka taste, lots of chocolate, coffee, sweet tobacco, molasses, coconut. Exceedingly smooth. Boozy sweet & very warming indeed. Top stuff.

Shared can @ Patricks. Close to black body under a small beige head. Strong and complex aroma of roasted dark malt, chocolate, dry fruit and distinct tonka. Taste is sweet dark, roasted malt, milk chocolate, tonka, dry fruit, coconut and alcohol. Fine body with long lasting aftertaste. Solid stuff.

Can, at Patricks. 2022 vintage. A reddish dark brown beer with a minimalistic beige head. There's lots of heavily roasted malts on the nose, with nuts, caramel and some alcohol. It's super smooth and full bodied, lightly warming and with a very gentle carbonation. The flavor is roasted, lightly burnt and with a good dash of toffee, dark dried fruit and alcohol. Lasting finish. A very pleasant one indeed, tasteful and moreish. 230029

440ml can. Poured almost black in colour with a short-lived, fizzy tan head. The aroma is roasted malt, coconut and tonka beans. The flavour is over moderate sweet, with a smooth, rich, roasty, dark chocolate, boozy alcohol bitter palate. There was no vanilla in my can as was advertised. The alcohol dominated and burned. Not entirely impressed.
