Black with a brown head - Dark malt and toated wood vanilla aroma - Good dark malt body with some dark fruity tones with toasted wood and vanill with some alcohol heat as well - The malt, toasted wood and vanilla goes into the finish - This was real good

500ml bottle, thanks Sami. Smooth, roasty and heavy with coffee notes, loads of vanilla, hints of bourbon, toffee, cocoa and chocolate. Slightly sweetish and warming but quite well balanced and really tasty. Good one.

Draught at the Jeffrey, 1/1/17.
Dark, inky, mahogany-ebony of indeterminable clarity. Tan head atop is small and slowly recedes to ring.
Very light bourbon character in the nose gives way to caramel, soft, luxurious vanilla and tons of elegant, easygoing, fruity, roasty espresso. The chocolate character never comes off too bitter/astringent or overly fudgey and the beer is nicely under control with the alcohol, being at a reasonable 9.2% abv. I’ll never understand why brewers feel the need to make Imperial Stouts higher than this. That’s plenty high...
Milk chocolate, light cocoa, more highly enjoyable espresso roast with hints of plum, prune, raisin and fruity, rich coffee. Low but tight carbonation and a sticky, chewy texture that is appropriately attenuated and on the dry side while still being balanced. Really, really nice stuff. Low on the bourbon, not boozy and not syrupy or too sweet.
