Our most recent collab with Cloudwater Brew Co is an Imperial Stout inspired by the traditional, geometric British cake recipe. The rich beer is aided by an ensemble of almond extract, apricot jam, and Madagascar vanilla beans.

What it smells and tastes like: It’s an intense, velvety experience, with a rich dark chocolate foundation, marzipan aromatics and subtle hints of apricot and vanilla.

A deep dark stout with a thin dark brown head. In aroma, sweet chocolate malt with dark fruits, licorice, loads of Maraschino Cherries, like a liquid black forest cake. In mouth, a nice sweet chocolate malt with dark fruits, cherries, vanilla, alcohol warmth, very nice. On tap at Lupulus.

(473ml can from the Ossington bottle shop) Pours black with a small mocha ring. Aroma dominanted by almond extract/marzipan over sweet dark caramel and treacle, some definite jam but feels like a mix of stone fruit, cherry and strawberry, vanilla accents, a bit of roasted and burnt malt in the background. Flavour is quite sweet with a lot of cherry and mixed fruit jam up front, a fair bit of almond/marzipan but not as intense as the nose, brown sugar/treacle core, some vanilla, moderate black malt roast, a hint of acidity to the roast too. Finish is slightly drier with lots of almond extract nuttiness and a bit of vanilla, a little dusty roast, and some drying alcohol. Sticky medium-full body with average carbonation. Definitely a sweet stout up front but the finish is not as syrupy as some pastry; this is unusual but I like the fruit and almond vibe a lot.
