Our Spezial-Gose is a crossover between Belgian Wit and Leipzig Style Gose. Brewed with various wheat and barley malts, spiced with bergamot peel from Italy, coriander seed and salt. For this new creation we use a lot more hops – Summit for bittering, Cascade and Aurora for the citrus-like aroma.

500 ml bottle from Craft Beer Cellar in Waterbury, Vermont. Amber orange pour. Brief white head. Tart, herbal aroma hints at coriander and lime. Tangy, spicy flavor upfront. Notes of wheat malt, Earl Grey tea, coriander and lime zest. Certainly unique.

Undated bottle from Tap and Bottle North fridge, drunk 2/12/23. Started with a no-sediment pour and it's a light-amber-golden-bronze. Medium, off-white/light-beige head showing moderately-strong retention. Some vague oxidative and metallic notions, though they mostly pass with warming/breathing. Fairly well-lagered souring isn't punchy or sharply lactic. Adjuncts aren't overdone, I don't even think I could get a sense of what's in this blind. No alcohol. Bready malts with light fruitiness and hints of spice on the finish. Soft and malty with a good dose of lactic acidity, though far from overbearing. Good attenuation, good depth with orange, red fruit, dry, subtle caramel and strong salinity. Bergamot peel adding bitterness to the finish but it's really tastefully done in the adjunct department. Still, nothing too compelling for me here; certainly not the complexity and interest of some of the other beers in this brewer's portfolio.

Bottled (KCM Puuvilla). Amber colour, small off-white head. Aroma is lime, some salts, mild herbs and earth. Flavour is somewhat sweet malty with some salts, mild wooden tartness and some lime to it. A bit coriander shows too as it warms up a bit.

Pour is a hazy orange with a small fizzy white head. Aroma is lime and salt water. Flavor is more tart lemon and lime with some coriander and bittering hops. This had a decent overall flavor and the tartness was a bit tame. Worth a try.

Lemon, lime, salt, wheat malt, and straw aroma. Cloudy golden yellow with large light tan head. Lightly sweet-tart lemon-lime, wheat malt, lightly salty, and mildly bitter straw flavor. Good body. Light but excellent.

Sample thanks to Grumbo: Poured a coppery brown with a frothy white head. Aroma is citrus, coriander, salt. Taste is very salt forward, zesty citrus fruit pops, and grain back. Finish is more saltiness.

18/4/2020. Bottle courtesy of Gabriel, cheers! Pours slightly hazy pale amber with a modest off-white head. Aroma sour bergamot orange, citrus, lime, wheat, hops, light herb and yeast, with touch of gherkin and sauerkraut. Light sweetness, medium sour and a light salty edge. Quite light, with average carbonation. Tangy and lip-smacking finish, though also a bit gassy. Definitely interesting. Liked this.

Bottle from Erzengel - Cheers! 🍻 Frothy white head left a creamy cover on a cloudy dark amber coloured still body. Salty aroma with lime. Medium bodied sharp over the tongue with a dry clean back. Tart tastes with yeast, citrus, salt & chalk tastes with long sour finish. Excellent!

31-01-20 // taster at Braukunst Live! in Munich. Yes you can feel the witbier influence. It is softer sour with more fruit touches. Wheat malty. good.
