Small cream - tan head, irregular, over near-black beer. Sour nose, lactic acid, vinous wet wood; red wine barrels, fruity esters. Sourish to pretty sour, again both woody & lacitd; buttermilk, lactic acid, green tomatoes. Hing at roasted/burnt malts, non-sweet. Serious acidthinning and -burn, according body. Feels spritzy and yet undercarbonated at the same time. Not bad, but a bit more complexity would be welcome.

At Hopishop 2017. Aroma of tart, vinous red fruit, oak and some whiskey. Flavor of vinous red fruit, tart, dry oak, vanilla, cherry and whiskey. Very nice and tasty.

Owl farm: poursblack with a beige head. Aroma is funky and roasty malty... wild and yeasty. Taste is lightly sour but quite a bit roasty. Interesting and complex through and through.

C&C 750 mL bottle. Dark brown, ruby highlights, large creamy tan head, good retention. Aroma of plum, chocolate, oak, pepper, chocolate. Jason P. says "I did not expect that." Taste is berries, cherries, plum, oak, chocolate, caramel, whiskey. Medium bodied, tasty.

Black pour with a fuzzy tan head. Cherries, chocolate, tart, light vinegar but not in an off-putting way, acidic, light roast. Medium thin body. Sour and enjoyable.

Poured from a 750 ml, Batch #1 bottle. Aroma is moderately malt forward with quite a bit of dark fruit and red wine notes. Moderate chocolate notes with some lighter coffee and toasted bread notes. Moderately strong red wine notes with some light berry, cherry, plum and prune. Light oak notes with hints of bourbon. Pours black with a medium sized, moderately thick, mocha colored head that recedes fairly quickly to the edges where it lingers for a bit. No lacing and medium small legs. Flavor is moderately acidic and slightly sharp. Moderate chocolate notes with almost and equal amount of coffee and roast. Some lighter toasted bread. Moderate dark fruit notes with raisin, berry, cherry, prune and plum. Some medium light red wine notes with light bourbon and oak. Low bitterness and some medium low astringency. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Moderate astringency and low, but present alcohol warmth. Overall, a decent beer, but I think yesterday’s dark sour from Shady Oak was better. This one is a bit too acidic and the fruit notes clash more with the malt than I prefer.
