He lurks in the shadows, waiting in bold anticipation. He's surprisingly bitter. Bitter about something. Legend has it that he feasts on those with fresh hops coursing through their veins. This dry-hopped, Texas IPA has a flavor as defiant as the Hopadillo himself. It's packed with the bracing bitterness of hops from around the world that this creature craves. He's comin' to get ya. You've been warned...

On tap at Chili's near the hotel in Houston. Pours a mostly clear deep amber color with a thin off white head that slowly recedes. Bready toasty light caramel maltiness with old school pine and citrus with bits of tropical and earthy notes. Nice.

DFW airport. Imperial pint. Clear, classic amber. Looks like a Yeungling. Moderate & clean bitter pine/herb/pith nose. Brighter than expected. Bitter greens & slight veg, basic toast, snappy acidity, steel, long rindy finish. Very clean. Could have two.

On tap at Flying Saucer Draught Emporium - DFW Airport, pours a clear copper amber orange with a small white head. Nose brings out some gentle berry fruits, light resinous hops, a little pine, and a touch of sweetness. Flavour is on the maltier side for a west coast-ish IPA, with resinous hops, sweet bready malt, and some gentle red berries. Personally I'd prefer less malt and more piney/resinous hop character to overtake. Decent.

Can (best by 9/19/21) pour from Total Wine and More, Brentwood. It’s a clear, light amber (honey) with decent sparkle, finger-plus width off-white foamy head with good retention and nice lacing. Aroma is dank vegetal, pine and malt base. Taste is strong caramel malts with lighter vegetal/floral. Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with smooth texture, soft-to-average carbonation and malty over danky vegetal finish. Overall, old school—little hop flavor and high on bitterness—and it’s not like you can blame this on age. Pass.

Pour is a clear copper with a bone white head. Aroma is caramel malt and some cascade hops. Flavor is a chewy malt and little pine hop but not much else. It's not sweet or bitter. Kind of a IPA that was made 20 years ago that's still stuck around.

[12oz can from Total Wines, Naples, FL.] A golden amber pour with a tight cream coloured head; malty aroma; piney bitterness to start, then a caramel and malt body with some earthiness and spice; before a rather hopless finish with some berry fruit. Reminds me more of an ESB than an IPA.
