A dark amber coloured beer with a deep red hue traditionally brewed using only the finest quality of Stonehenge Spring Water, barley, rye, crystal and wheat malts, whole hops and the brewery’s own top-fermenting yeast. The complex malt and fruit flavours develop into a very pleasingly fruity and bitter aftertaste which lingers on. This fine beer was first brewed to celebrate the approval in November 2003 for the reintroduction of the Great Bustard bird onto the Salisbury Plain.

Sights & Swills Summer Holiday Beer#14. POOLE. Found at the Poole Arms on the harbour waterfront in the town. A really nice traditional venue with standing room only when I entered, but its five cask ales selection are all regulars'. A dark clear copper bitter infused with some nice caramels.

Cask at Butlers Bell, Stafford. Pours a deep copper with a sizeable cream head and good lacing. The aroma is distinctly yeasty, with apples and berries. In the mouth dired fruit and malts are the mainstays, plus generous amounts af caramel and toffee with just a little hoppiness. Later on spices and nuts come through as well – leading to a bitter finish. This is a decent premium beer.
