The Hammer of the Lion is a fearsome weapon, but the lion wields this tool for justice. Our first barrel-aged release in 16oz cans, Hammer of the Lion is a blend of an American Imperial Stout and a Wee Heavy Ale that were barrel-aged in Rum, Brandy, and Bourbon barrels. Pronounced notes of malt sweetness and dark chocolate combine with a complex profile of barrel flavors for a rich and full-flavored experience.

Can. A- Booze, cocoa. A- Dark brown color, dark liquid, beige head. T- Brandy, boozy. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, boozy finish. O- A big beer with plenty of boozy notes. Pretty one dimensional which is sort of a surprise. The brandy barrel is the most prominent of the barrels. Decent though.

Pours black into a snifter. Mocha head with little retention recedes to mottle surface. Chocolate and vanilla aromas. Medium bodied with sweet vanilla and chocolate upfront turning to warm rum and brandy before the lasting bourbon and espresso burn finish.

Can. Blackish beer with a dark tan head. Rum and brandy aroma with light chocolate. Chocolate and brandy flavor with bourbon and vanilla. Medium bodied. Chocolate and brandy linger with bourbon, rum, caramel, and vanilla. Rum comes on strong.

On tap at Beer Shop NYC. Pours black. Bourbon, chocolate, brandy, coffee, lots of chocolate biscuits, nice red fruit complexity, little hint of booze. Good body. Excellent.

Can from Cap Tap. Pours dark brown/black with a creamish tan head. Aroma of smooth burnt malt with whiskey notes that might be rum and bourbon. Full bodied. It's smooth and slick. Flavor is smooth, chocolaty burnt malt. Whiskey - yes. Brandy - I really think so. Dark dried fruits. Raisin works. Tobacco/leather. Not dry, but far from sticky. Not really bitter, but the heat substitutes. Finally getting a little musty wood. This is really good tasting ale.
