You'll still come across the old sea dogs around the Isle of Man's harbours, with tales to tell of their own adventures on the stormy sea which surrounds our Isle. A few of them might be tall, but there is no better accompaniment than our Olde Skipper. And if the fishermen are too busy, never mind. You've still got the ale.
A light golden coloured beer with a hop and fruit aroma. An initial sweetness leads to a quite intense bitter dry finish.
Ingredients: Pale Ale Malt, Hops: 1st Copper Hops, First Gold and Goldings, Late Copper Hop Saaz, Late Whirlpool Hop Hallertau and Cascade.

Cask at Fly in the Loaf, Liverpool. Mid- to dark gold, clear with a tight white head. Golden syrup and biscuit aroma with a slight hint of tropical fruit. A malty bready savoury taste, followed by some hop bitterness. Very pleasant. Full mouthfeel for its ABV and style. Slight natural carbonation adds to the enjoyment. A well-crafted recipe which reminds me more of traditional British ale rather than hoppy US-led goldens.

Cask @ The Commercial, Ramsey. Smooth and slightly malty beginning. Fresh and typical sweetish for a golden ale. Slightly bitter till the end, smooth, mild. The aftertaste is as well golden ale typical: Smooth, slightly sweetish, hints of bitterness. On the tongue remains an smooth-sweetish Ale-aroma with bitter hints.

Cask at the CASK Pub & Kitchen on 17th April 2010. Yellow gold with small white head. Very malty with caramel in main feature, some citrus hoppiness late on, then a rather sweet finish on a smooth but not untextured mouthfeel.
