A wonderfully mild mid-May day, fine time to sample this 12 oz bottle of a New Mexico brewed ipa that I picked up at Total Wine in Santa Fe. I like using a tulip glass, the pour is an orange-yellow having a thin top of totally white foam. A decent smell, sort of fruity with just the barest suggestion of hops. Curious. The taste is considerably different, I get pine cones, varnish, grapefruit and cut grass finished by a moderate bitterness. Decent and tasty but not earth shaking.

Dark golden and hazy in the glass. The nose is floral and grainy. The beer starts rough, unround. The mainpart is sharp, floral hop aroma together with a sharp maltiness and bitterness. Not really fitting. The aftertaste is sharp, not really well balanced and sharp-floral-bitter.
Not one of my favourite IPAs. --> 7/10/6/7

Bottle @ the Great Best Western Las Cruces tasting of 2013 with yarn connoisseur, Rachel. Pours a bit hazy, burnt orange appearance with an off white head. Spicy, somewhat resiny, grapefruity hoppy, light cat pee, toasty malty aroma. Tangy, spicy, a bit peppery, piney, grapefruity hoppy flavor. A bit over the top but not bad.

Slightly hazy dull amber. Thin white head. The aroma is dull - mostly earthy and a bit mushroomy. Low bitterness and the sweetness is dull caramels. A very boring mid 90s interpretation of the style.

Bottle from Liz. Pours copper with a foamy 3 finger off-white head. Aromas of warm carmel and hot bits. Plus a little pine. Full body with foamy carb. Flavor is wishy washy caramel with some pine and citrus hops. Hot bits. Finishes a little grapefruit rind. Better than average.
