Darkness – The Prince of Ales lives up to its name; black as midnight, this is a well balanced but complex chocolate stout. Deliciously smooth, made with English Goldings hops, Chocolate malt, Roasted Barley and rich dark molasses.

The rich bitter-chocolate taste of Darkness® is created using a complex mash of premium malts including Chocolate Malt, which derives its characteristic coffee/chocolate flavour and aroma from subtle roasting during the malting process.

Cask at Shrewsbury Hotel, Shrewsbury. Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a small cream head. Malts are the mainstay of the aroma, plus hints of cola and coffee. In the mouth it is slightly sweet with a smoky texture. Roast malts and coffee hit the taste buds first, but liquorice then overpowers them. Hints of dandelion and burdock also. Some bitterness in the dry finish. This is a decent all round stout.

Fra cask på The Lyric: brunsvart med ok skum. Meget elegant røstet maltsmak med sjokolade, lys kaffe, et par bjørnebær og hint av barskog. Mild og sjarmerende avslutning. Supersmud og oppløftende.

Deep brown, near black, with a red hue and a roasted malt aroma, with a hint of port and berry fruit. Medium bodied, dry and bitter with fruity roasted malt in abundance, and a touch of chocolate in the finish
