Near black with a frothy tan head and mellow coffee and chocolate on the nose. Semi-creamy and smooth with coffee up front, some dark fruit with roasted malt and dry bitterness finishing things off

RERATE OCTOBER 2022 Cask at Bird in Hand, Stafford. Pours almost black with a medium sized beige head and good lacing – looked fantastic ! The aroma has strong chocolate and oatmeal plus a smattering of malts. In the mouth it is creamy and fluctuates between being sweet and slightly bitter. There are some traditional hops, but more roast malts and chocolate plus some hints of oats. Chocolate dominates in the finish. Simply superb ! ORIGINAL RATING Cask at Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford. Pours almost black with a small beige head. Aroma has dark fruits with some added maltiness. In the mouth it is smooth, with a texture that manages to be both watery and creamy at the same time. Flavour is mainly liquorice and chocolate with hints of treacle and malts. A bit strange but I quite liked it. (Original score 3.3)

Hand-pulled half-pint in The Shrewsbury Arms, Stafford on 8th April 2022. Black with a tanned topping that stayed. Malty with a mild coffee like influence, not as exciting as it looked to be honest.

Cask @ Cafe Beermoth, Manchester. Very smooth but ultimately thin tasting dark malts in this dark brew. It has a pleasantly milky aroma.
