GBBF Day 1. Cask. Clear deep amber brown beer, small pale tan head. Smooth palate, semi dry, modest fine carbonation. Smooth malts, a light dry creamy sweetness. Slightly tangy ripe fruits. Little marmalade. Mild spice on the semi dry finish. Mercifully light on peat

Cask at Square Bottle, Chester. Pours a dark burgundy with a small cream head and good lacing. Aroma is creamy with roast malts and some hints of liquorice. In the mouth the liquorice is very much to the fore. It is smooth with a slightly watery texture and some traces of dark fruits. Later on it becomes sweeter with hints of danelion and burdock, leading to a dry finish. Not bad but a bit too much liquorice.
