Double Dry-Hopped Double New England Style IPA

Over four pounds per barrel of Denali, Simcoe and El Dorado hops make this Double NEIPA the juiciest IPA we’ve ever canned, with notes of pineapple, mango and grapefruit.

Very hazy, almost chunky peach and copper coloured body with a pretty thick, three to four centimetre tall microfoamed tan head that leaves a decent lace on the sides. Aroma of pineapple, rich malts, some alcohol, a dash of papaya and mangoes and a bit of lactosey and bready yeast at the end. Full-bodied; Very rich, chewy malts dominate with a good fruit complexity with mangoes and especially pineapple here, but a lot of resinous and syrupy sweetness hits at the end, too, but things are largely balanced throughout, with a lot of flavours and pungency all over. Aftertaste is full of syrupy and fruity notes with a thick, pungent support from the strong malts, a slight bitterness from the deep hop notes, and finishing with some noticeable alcohol, right around the 9,0 per cent mark. Overall, a nice, pungent, rich, fruity, sweet, syrupy beer with a lot of robust flavours with some enjoyable complexity that all seems to work together nicely. Good to sample very fresh from my home state and while probably intended to be a New England IPA, this is much richer and stronger flavoured than most in the style. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Beer Baron in Livonia, Michigan on 23-October-2022 for US$4,99, canned on 10-May-2022 and sampled at my house here in Washington on 07-November-2022.

Can from Holiday Market. Pours a clear orange gold with a finger of white foam that dissipates. Big orange marmalade nose with peach and pine aromas as it warms. Warming alcohol on the palate with more peach and orange marmalade notes. The sweetness gets cut by pine and pithy bitterness. Not overly syurpy or sweet, but a bit more midwest double IPA than NE style. Enjoyable either way.

16 oz can. Golden pour with lots of fine particles, but not truly hazy until the remainder was poured, and an off-white head. Grassy herbal hop aroma, touch of biscuit, more tropical fruit as it warms. Flavor is tropical fruit like mango and pineapple, orange citrus. A bit messy at first, but it eventually comes together.
