0.5L bottle pours deep deep amber with infra red edges and tan head. The aroma is a bit different than I was expecting but very inviting with roasted to burnt malts, rich sweet toffee, earthiness, molasses and some cigar ash. Nice mix of notes. The taste enters with medium body and distinct creaminess. The taste starts roasty and quickly turns sweet with toffee, molasses and vanilla. By midway rich fresh roasty malts take over along with burnt to ashy malts and some earthiness under foot. I love the way all the notes come together here. YUM.

Bottle at Winking Lizard. This beer pours a mostly clear dark brown color with a thin dark tan head that dissipates steadily. Thin rings of lacing. The aroma has a slightly smoked character, with roasted malt, coffee and chocolate behind it. Medium-bodied with flavors of malt, coffee and bittersweet chocolate, with smoke in the background all the while. The finish consists of coffee and hops with a lingering bitterness. Above average overall.

Aroma of chocolate and volatile organics. In strong light the color is dark ruby - otherwise dark brown. The head is tan, but virtually non-existent. Thin to medium in body with very mild carbonation. Flavor is equal part dark roasted malt and chocolate malts. It finishes out as dry and dark. Very smooth and very tasty. Ends much dryer than it seemed to start. Extremely nice drink.

Bottle kindly picked up for me by Graham and Isobel (Loz’s parents) Poured dark brown, good aroma of dark roasted malts and nice bitter chocolate. Bitterness and coffee flavours come coursing through as does some chocolate, not a complicated beer by any stretch but actually one that was very nice.

Deep brown with a nice layering of beige head. Nice aroma of malts, molasses, raspberries, toasted malts, smoke, and cocoa. Body is a little thin, and nicely carbonated. Roasted malts dominate the flavor. Smoke, some molasses, and light berries/fruit. Finish is long of bittersweet toasted malts. Enjoyable porter.

Pours deep mahogany into an English pint. Mocha-colored head quickly subsides to skim surface and hug rim. Chocolate and malt aromas. Caramel upfront with a thin, slightly sour chocolate malt finish.
