Vrij smaakloos bier. Kleur is licht rood-bruin. Helaas als 2e bier gedronken na een meer uitgesproken bier waardoor de negatieve smaakbeleving mogelijk is beïnvloed.

Amber and bright. Mellow caramel sweetness. Malty, slight caramel, and a little bit of tart green apple fruitiness. Real working class strong bitter.

Cask @ Seven Stars, Manchester. Darker golden ale with a creamy head. Has a fine easy to drink body with a nice smoothness, but not high on flavours. Nose has some sweet berry.

First time I’ve ever seen the cask version: had to have a pint. Hand-pulled in The Park Inn, Wellington, Shropshire on 13th Jan 2014. Good looking brew, light amber/dark golden hue with a better head than I remember the bottled one having. Initially malty aromas filled my nose, then a citrusy hop smell took over: this also happened in the taste, mildly malty front with a hop and citrus middle and finish. It’s OK and slightly better than the bottled version in my eyes.

Cask at the Le Gothique’s Halloween Beer Festival 2013. Poured a clear, light amber colour with no head to speak of. Aroma of raisons, candy sugar and plumbs. Smooth malty flavour with caramel and some grassy hops. Palate was toffee sweetness with some dates and hay. Better than I expected; it was pretty quaffable.

Gravity cask at the Wandsworth Common Halloween Beer Festival - Le Gothique, London. Pours clear, rich gold with a creamy white head. Simple bready malt aroma. Medium sweet flavor with more bread, some slightly astringent orange citrus, mild dry straw. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet finish with low bitterness, lightly dried bread, faint toasted grains, orange rind. OK.

Fresh at the brewery. Clear, dark blond. It’s really smooth and creamy. Good balance of flavour with unimposing malt and light hop bitterness. Pleasant and sessionable Golden Ale.

Cask at the Black Horse, Preston. Can tell straight away it’s going to be an improvement on the bottled version. Pours clear amber with a thick white head good lacing. Toffee malt aroma, with a hint of citrus fruit and spice. Taste has good bitterness to balance the sweet. Texture is lovely, creamy and smooth. Finishes light bitter. Good.

Medium creamy offwhite head. Clear amber body. Light caramelly roasted almonds aroma with fruity nutty notes. Dry-sweet caramelly earthy taste with spicy notes. Mild, soft, flat mouthfeel. Mid-bodied. Dryish nutty floral aftertaste with wooden notes. It’s perfectly OK, but doesn’t have much flavour. (0.284l cask at The Dolphin Hotel, Whitby.)

On cask at Little John Hotel, Hathersage - Clear golden body with a small lasting (and lacing) white head. Aroma of resiny hops, grass and caramel malts. Flavour of caramel malts, fruits, mild grass and gooseberries. Not too bad, was a bit overly malty after a while though.
