Blossom, bank holidays, and trainers with no socks, the first outdoor ice cream – or beer – of the year – everyone has their springtime signifier. For us, spring hasn’t properly sprung until we’ve had our first pint of hoppy, juicy, fresh Inner City Green. Sock-wearing optional.
Head to the park, Inner City Green is now in cans!
This is our first seasonal beer to come off the canning line, perfect for festivals, picnics, garden parties, and any excuse to get outside in the sunshine.
The word green can mean immature, but not in Inner City Green’s case. Like all out lagers, it gets a full 4 weeks of maturation in tank to make sure it’s crisp, clean, green and all grown-up.
And good for beer too. This beer isn’t green, but it is full of green stuff – hops – with Nelson Sauvin, Galaxy and Amarillo all giving buckets of green grape, gooseberry and passion fruit aroma.
Longer, lighter days, call for lighter, brighter beers, so when the sun comes out, Inner City Green is your friend. Head to the nearest green patch to get maximum beer-in-the-sun exposure.

330ml can. Poured a hazy yellow golden colour with a thin white head. The aroma is malt, lemon citrus fruits, yeast, light hop. The flavour is moderate bitter, light sweet with a light, crisp, fresh, fruity, light mineral, light dry hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Rather fruity for a "lager", but no complaints.

Can from Tesco, Addlestone. Grad and pine with a hint of citrus. Pale gold. A tad hazy? Bubbly white head. Medium bitter. The hops come through although there's also a soda-esse element coming through from the carbonation. Light bodied. Thin. Fizzy carbonation. Long dry finish. Hoppy lager. Drinkable if nothing too exciting.

Can from Tesco Danestone. It pours clear golden - amber with a medium white head. The aroma is fresh, fragrant, floral, daisies, freshly laundered clothes, biscuit and some sponge cake. The taste is crisp, clean, dry, bitter, daisies, grass, straw, touch of citrus peel and white pepper and biscuit with a dry finish. Light - medium body and moderate, foamy carbonation. Well rounded and crushable. I like the floral vibes going down.
